چکیده
Attention was drawn by Gass (i968) to a distinctive fundus appearance of numerous, widespread, flat, yellowish-white lesions at the level of the retinal pigment epithelium and choroid, associated with rapid loss of visual function. Gass proposed the descriptive name "acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy" for this condition and noted the spontaneous resolution of the lesions which occurred after several months with improvement in the visual acuity.

Acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy complicated by central retinal vein occlusion.
A case of acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy (APMPPE) complicated by a central retinal vein occlusion five weeks after presentation is described. After eight months' follow-up there was mild residual visual impairment, macular scarring, and angiographic changes. The association of these two conditions is discussed.

In a patient with angiographically proven cerebral vasculitis five months after acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy (APMPPE) neurological symptoms promptly responded to steroid treatment. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) showed a lymphocytic pleocytosis. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed multifocal white matter lesions in the hemispheres and the brain stem suggesting a di...

BACKGROUND Acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy is an unusual, self-limited, inflammatory disease that affects the choriocapillaris, and external retinal layers. CLINICAL CASE A 26 year-old male patient complained of decreased visual acuity, as well as photopsia in both eyes for the past three days. Best corrected visual acuity was 20/200 in the right eye and 20/80 in the...
متن کاملAcute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy associated with diffuse retinal vasculitis and late haemorrhagic macular detachment.
A 20-year-old healthy man suffered rapid loss of bilateral central vision with placoid lesions at the level of the retinal pigment epithelium and choriocapillaris scattered in the posterior pole of the fundus. In addition, acute vasculitis of the retinal veins was remarkable and widespread throughout the posterior pole and midperiphery. These inflammatory signs subsided in several weeks and wer...

Purpose. To report favorable outcome of a case of acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy (APMPPE) associated with cerebral vasculitis after treatment with immunosuppressive therapy by mitoxantrone. Design. Single case report. Method. A 22-year-old man presented with acute isolated bilateral loss of vision revealing APMPPE. Corticosteroid therapy was initiated and visual acuit...
